Booze-filled lunch with co-workers makes reporter spend afternoon on personals web sites, sending email, cleaning nails.

Staff writer, Cara Gardner, made the precarious decision to accompany co-workers to a pool hall for lunch after Wednesday's editorial meeting, where she proceeded to drink four beers, talk shit about her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend and bemoan the fact that art of naked women on the walls of the pool hall looked better than she did. Gardner, who then voiced loudly that she thought every one should skip the work day, smoke a bowl and drive to Mexico, reluctantly went back to the office with her fellow reporters. There, she checked personal email, drank several glasses of water, wishing they contained alcohal and wrote a profile for a personals web site, where she will never return to see if there are responses.
Thankfully, a like-minded co-worker soon sent her a covert email suggesting a rendevous, including movies, booze, pot and perhaps lots of fun, dirty dialogue, starting NOW - in the middle of the work day.

Nothing could be more fun. Gardner soon closed her work station down, wrote a wistfully, guilty note to herself for the following work day with a list of things that "really, really need to get done" and grabbed her scarf.
Gardner had just received a bonus from her boss for some extra work on the publication, but refused to be inspired by this gesture. Instead, she was greedy for more, half-drunk and wishing her co-workers would be better enablers.
